Service Introduction
Mental health and neurodevelopmental difficulties can affect a child's emotions, behaviour, relationships, education and everyday functioning.
Our psychiatry service considers the child's current concerns alongside their developmental, medical, family and educational history. This helps develop a fuller understanding of their needs and identify appropriate recommendations.
Psychiatric Assessment and Diagnosis
The assessment process will vary depending on the child's presentation, age and reason for referral.

Ongoing Psychiatric Care
Where ongoing psychiatric input is recommended, care may include regular follow-up appointments to review symptoms, everyday functioning, emotional wellbeing, risk and response to treatment.
Our psychiatrists may also provide guidance for children, young people and their families, update the individual care plan and coordinate with other professionals involved in the child's care. The frequency and format of follow-up appointments will be based on each child's individual needs.
